What is a Peaberry?
Unlike regular coffee cherries that grow two flat-sided beans, a peaberry forms when only one small, round seed develops inside the fruit. This rare mutation occurs in just 5–10% of the harvest and it's something special.
Because of their dense, spherical shape, peaberries are known to roast more evenly and often reveal brighter acidity, sweeter notes, and a more concentrated flavor in the cup.
Small in size. Big in flavor.
That’s the magic of peaberry.
Founded in 1950 and nestled in the fertile Waghi Valley, Sigri Estate benefits from the region’s ideal growing conditions, perfect elevation, volcanic soil, and a cool climate that fosters exceptional Arabica production.
Quality begins at the source. Each cherry is handpicked at peak ripeness to ensure optimal sugar and acidity. Processing begins the same day with pulping, followed by a meticulous three-day fermentation and washing process. Afterward, the beans are sun-dried—a traditional step that enhances sweetness and clarity.
Post-drying, the coffee undergoes careful conditioning, hulling, grading, and hand-sorting. Every lot is sample roasted and cupped on-site by experts, ensuring that only the finest beans move forward.
From careful cultivation to expert processing, Sigri Estate delivers coffees that are clean, balanced, and beautifully expressive of their origin.
