ABOUT COLOMBIA FERNANDO BOCANEGRA
I like the topic, a genuine connection that elevates the work of many coffee producers that go under the radar in a country like Colombia with so much diversity in terroir and post-harvest processes.

Fernando Bocanegra is a chef, in charge or quality in one of the most important restaurants in Bogota, so he understands that roasting and tasting his own coffee will empower him to plan the work at the farm. Which is very rare as a big percentage of producer sin Colombia have never tried their own coffee.
Another interesting thing about Fernando is that he bought a piece of land where there weren’t much people or people producing coffee, this land was war zone in Tolima, land that used to be possessed by guerrilla and today farmers are starting coming back. Fernando is a visionary and he knows coffee can be a things there not only for the fertile soil but for the high altitude as his farm reaches 2,000mls

I say he is a visionary also because he only planted geisha with a very unusual distribution (a lot of space between each tree) on the trees in the aim to let the trees get more sun. Of course in farming this can be a problem as less trees less production but Fernando says that he needs less coffee with better quality.
